Author: Jeffrey Archer
Genre: Historical fiction
I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did, but it has a lot of heart and that gets me every time. This story has set up an epic soap opera that will last decades. I can see that this series is going to be one of my guilty pleasures. Archer’s strength is in creating believable and engaging characters that you are powerless but to root for. The story is full of drama. It Follows young Harry Clifton as he tries to find his way in the world, unaware that a powerful man is seeking to disadvantage him at every turn. Archer succeeds in capturing the relative innocence of the era, interwar Britain, and leaves you with a proper cliff-hanger. I will be reading the next one soon!
